RJA #3c: Research Question

  • Mainstream education gives the student with disabilities the feeling of being normal.
  • The teachers are not trained in special education.
  • Students with disabilities take most of the time away from students with no disabilities.
  • It cost more to mainstream education.
  • mainstreaming benefits both disabled & non disabled by showing them how diverse the world is.
  • Mentally disabled students who graduate are not at the same level as non-disabled with same degree.
  • Disabled people(mentally) may never enter society as contributing member, so school is wasted time and funding them.
  • Costs to school system to separate diversity and cater to the needs outweigh benefits and cost of separate schools.
  • Disadvantages with separating disabled students.
  • Define disabled and mentally challenged.
  • Teachers trained in special education having enough funding/supports to handle classes of mentally challenged students.
  • Students without disabilities actions towards disabled students and the effect on disabled.

RJA #3a: Research Topic Exploration

I started out by making my account on Delicious.com. I then went to my Google Schloar, and typed in,"mainstream Education" and I found many articles that are going to help me argue my point and also fight my point. I bookmarked the sites on Delicious.com so that I could come back later for a better look. I then contiuned on my search for more information on mainstreaming education. I also went to wikipedia to get a good general idea of the topic and used some of the refrences at the bottm of the page to try and get more credible sources.
